The Pittsburgh Steelers were officially eliminated from playoff contention tonight when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Raiders in Oakland, 21-13. This comes even after Ben Roethlisberger threw three touchdown passes and Jeff Reed kicked three field goals as the Steelers temporarily kept their playoff hopes alive with a 30-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins at Land Shark Stadium.
The Ravens victory gave Baltimore one of two wildcard playoff berths. The other will go to either the Houston Texans, who defeated New England in the afternoon, or the New York Jets if they beat Cincinnati tonight.
The Steelers finished the season 9-7 but lose tiebreakers to both Baltimore, and either Houston or the Jets.
