People in the crowd at today's college basketball game between Louisville and West Virginia were heard chanting "Karen Sypher, Karen Sypher." Perhaps they thought it would add some i
nsult to injury as the West Virginia Mountaineers came back from a 12 point half time deficit to beat the Louisville Cardinals 77-74.
Karen Sypher is the woman who was indicted for attempting to extort Louisville Coach Rick Pitino after an affair. They infamously had sex at the Louisville restaurant Porcini, which Pitino admitted to. Sypher then claimed that Pitino raped her on two occasions and then intimidated her into getting an abortion. Pitino has admitted to a consensual sexual affair with Sypher, but denies ever assaulting her or forcing her into an abortion. Kentucky declined to file any charges against Pitino.
Try as I might, I couldn't find the status of Karen Sypher's case now. Does anyone know if she is awaiting trial or if the charges against her were dropped?
