There is one thing the Boston Celtics are known for, having a token white guy, but tomorrow night when they take on the Cleveland Cavilers that will change.
This morning, Brian Scalabrine fulfilled his commitment with the Toucher and Rich morning show on 985 The Sports Hub (follow link for the photos), when he came in studio and received a full body spray tan.
Scalabrine, a weekly guest of the show, arrive at 9 a.m. and after some banter with the hosts stripped down to his gym shorts to receive his spray tan from Boston’s Tan Man tanning salon.Â
Scalabrine did express some concern that this would be some kind of prank and he would turn out orange and the Oompa Loompa references from the hosts didn’t help. He even went as far as to ask someone to go first just so he could be sure it was all on the up and up. Even without getting his test subject, Scalabrine manned up and got his new spray tan.
The media was also out in force to cover the event as Comcast Sports Net, NESN, Boston’s NBC affliate and the Boston Herald will all be providing coverage.
The tan is the result of a bet Scalabrine made with the show a few months back involving the All-Star Game. Scalabrine agreed that if they could get him 250,000 votes.
With the bet agreed upon, Toucher and Rich launched the “get that man a tan†campaign, complete with production pieces featuring Scalabrine asking for votes and singing Phil Collins and Vanilla Ice  There were issues in the voting process as it was discovered that the write in votes may not be getting counted. The show investigated but was never pleased with the outcome.
On January 21 when the All-Star votes were announced, The “King of Sports†personally wrote a letter to the “Toucher and Rich Show†apologizing for the issues with voting and announced that the grand total was 250,008 votes.
