The Wrestlemania 26 results are in. With the conclusion of last night's biggest wrestling Pay-Per-View of the year, the big news came from the main event. Many fans weren't expecting that Shawn Michaels is retiring in 2010, but after losing in "The Career vs. The Streak" match to the Undertaker, it seems it's his fate. Michaels and Undertaker fought another exciting match last night, a rematch from last year's epic battle. The Undertaker came out on top though using move after move in the finish to improve his undefeated Streak at Wrestlemania to 18-0.
If that was the Heartbreak Kid's last match, he was sent out of the business with a Tombstone Piledriver. A fitting way for one of the best in the business to go out, but surprising that it wasn't his good friend Triple H who sent him away. Just two Wrestlemania's ago, Shawn Michaels was the one responsible for sending Ric Flair into retirement. Flair made a few more appearances with WWE after that, but never in an official match. He was ringside for a Wrestlemania 25 battle involving Chris Jericho and 3 Hall of Fame WWE legends, but now Flair works with TNA, WWE's main competitor.
Last night's show may have held a few other surprises. One that came out of left field was Jack Swagger winning Money in the Bank. Swagger didn't seem to be in recent favor with the WWE, even losing a match to Santino Marella on Raw weeks ago. Now with the MITB win, he gets a title shot anytime, anyplace. Some fans are already questioning if he'll be the first ever to cash in for the title fight and lose. However, Raw needs a new heel champion so it's possible he'll cash in and defeat Cena at some point.
Another surprise may have been that Edge did not capture the World Heavyweight Title. Chris Jericho didn't exactly play nice though, he used the World Championship belt to smash Edge in the head before a Codebreaker and a pin. Most likely, Edge is due to win the title either on Smackdown or at the next Pay-Per-View.
The divas got their under 15 minutes of fame, as a last minute 10 diva tag match was thrown together, including non-diva Vickie Guerrero. Guerrero scored the winning pinfall after a divas brawl in the ring, and she used a Hogsplash move to flatten her opponent.
Other results saw Rey Mysterio defeat CM Punk, Triple H hit a Pedigree to defeat Sheamus, and The MizShow successfully defended their Unified Tag team titles. Still the biggest surprise of the night involves "Mr. Wrestlemania" Shawn Michaels retiring in 2010. The video below may be further evidence that there won't be some immediate comeback. Expect the WWE Farewell for Michaels to come up soon on Raw.
