Following his hiatus from the public spotlight and the major sex scandal that rocked headlines, Tiger Woods is now preparing for the Masters Golf tournament 2010 edition. It's his first return to golf since the extra-marital affairs the golf star claimed involving as many as 14 different women, besides his wife Elin. He spoke at a Tiger Woods press conference today about how it felt to return to golf, and the reception he's got so far as well as a few other topics of interest.
From WashingtonPost.com:
"What a great day today," Woods said. "Coming into today, I didn't know what to expect. But the reception, I tell you what, the galleries were so nice. And the encouragement that I got, it blew me away, it really did. . . . Today touched my heart pretty good."
"As far as getting out there, I was definitely more nervous," Woods said. "On the first tee, I didn't know what to expect. It's one of those things where I've never been in this position. . . .
"For the fans to really want to see me play golf again, that felt good. Usually I kind of focus on the placements of shots and getting ready, but today was a little bit different."
Woods was grilled about his possible use of illegal substances following a 2008 surgery. Tiger spoke about his sports medicine specialist, Anthony Galea, who is under investigation in the US for providing HGH and performance-enhancing drugs to athletes. Woods vehemently denied ever using any illegal substances his entire life. He did note that he's taken Ambien and Vicodin, prescription drugs which he has never been addicted to.
Also at the Tiger Woods press conference today, the golf star addressed his treatment plans related to his marriage with Elin. Woods said he plans to continue undergoing his current in-patient therapy treatment, however when asked what the treatment is for specifically, Woods said it was personal. Woods said he expects to go out for the upcoming Masters Golf tournament 2010 and do his best to "win this thing", also noting he needs to be a better man going forward than he was before.
