Colt McCoy & Jimmy Clausen NFL Draft 2010 news - surprising 2nd round picks?

Two quarterbacks on the board for the second round of the NFL Draft 2010 are Texas' Colt McCoy and Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen.  It's been speculated that the Carolina Panthers are interested in McCoy but would possibly need to trade up in order to secure him.  As for Clausen, the speculation is that a team will trade up for the first pick of the second round to get him on their team.

Jimmy Clausen left Notre Dame early in the hopes of going first round and was considered the second-best QB in the draft.  Many are shocked that Clausen still remains at this point, especially after the Broncos made a surprise move to trade up to get Florida's Tim Tebow.  Tebow was projected a second round pick but instead went #25 to the Broncos.  ESPN has called Clausen's fall to the 2nd round one of the more surprising drops in draft history.  A team in need of a quarterback will do good to select Clausen or McCoy in Round 2.

Colt McCoy had a solid career for Texas, throwing for 13,253 yards and 112 touchdowns with a QB rating of 158.25.  He scored a number of awards and accolades during his career including being a runner-up for the Heisman in 2008 and the Sporting News College Athlete of the Year in 2009.   We may see him as the top pick of the second round Friday night.
