WWE Divas in Extreme Rules 2010 matches - Michelle McCool vs Beth Phoenix

On Friday night Smackdown's 04/23/10 episode, we learned of the newest of the WWE Extreme Rules 2010 matches (see card here).  The current WWE Womens Champion Michelle McCool will defend her title against "The Glamazon" Beth Phoenix.  Phoenix is a former multi-time Womens Champ herself and would love to have the title once again.  She's battled adversity since arriving to Smackdown, but has become one of the fan favorite WWE Divas, aiding both Mickie James and Tiffany as they battled the force known as Team LayCool.

In recent weeks Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix have been insulting The Glamazon, calling her a man, and berating her for her strength which seems to be too much for a woman.  Beth and Mickie James went into a tag team match against LayCool on the recent Smackdown, but lost due to Michelle McCool kicking Mickie James in the head, and Layla finishing her off.  Beth Phoenix didn't factor into the finish, but after the match she was given a beat down by Michelle and Layla.  It ultimately involved them throwing her into an ironing board and then smearing lipstick all over her face to "pretty her up".  Once The Glamazon sees the video footage she won't be too pleased!

Not only has Beth had to deal with LayCool's antics, but also the vindictive Smackdown consultant Vickie Guerrero.  Weeks ago Vickie told Beth she would never get a WWE Womens title shot.  It seems as if the powers that be have allowed it and now Michelle will have to defend at Extreme Rules in what's been called an "Extreme Makeover" match.  The rules of this match are uncertain, although it appears it could involve weapons like ironing boards and makeup, as seen on Smackdown.  Whoever wins this match will leave Baltimore, Maryland as the WWE Womens Champion.
