Tiger Woods has withdrew from The PGA Championship during the final round with what he believes is a bulging disk in his upper back. Tiger Woods came into the final round at TPC Sawgrass 10 shots behind the leader Lee Westwood.
Tiger Woods finished his final round on just the seventh hole. His tee shot was struck far to the right. He grimaced following his second shot before shaking hands with his playing partner Jason Bohn and leaving the course on a golf cart.
Tiger Woods said afterward that he has been playing with a hurting neck for about a month. He believes he has a bulging disk, but does not the cause of the injury.
This has to be seen as one of the worst possible starts to his golf return. Tiger Woods competed at The Masters and showed he could put any rust aside. But now he has missed a cut, barely made the cut at The PGA Championship and ultimately withdraws with a bulging disk injury. Tiger has to be visibly frustrated at this point. We all know what kind of year he has gone through off the golf course with all the infidelity stories and rumors of divorce with wife, Elin.
I would say Tiger Woods should not make any future commitments at this point, or even projections. He needs to get healthy and return when he is ready, hopefully in time for the next major. It's going to be a circus the rest of the year now combining injury and off the course issues at every press conference.
