Texans Ground out a Victory Over Colts

The Texans took their first step in trying to become an elite team in the AFC with a 34-24 victory over the Colts. The win marked only the second time the Texans have ever defeated Indianapolis.

The Texans were led by RB Arian Foster who rushed for a team record 231 yards and 3 TD's, the effort surpassed Domanick Davis's effort of 158 yards in a contest against Jacksonville in 2004. QB Matt Schaub who led the NFL in passing yards in 2009 was just 9 of 17 for 107 yards, the Texans rushed the ball 42 times in a big direction change in their offense. Pro-Bowl receiver Andre Johnson had three receptions for 33 yards and receiver Kevin Walter had the only touchdown reception on a 22 yard reception in the second quarter.

Peyton Manning and the Colts got off to a slow start trailing 13-0 and 27-10. Manning heated up as the Texans started to play a prevent defense and finished 40 of 57 for 433 yards and three scores. Two of those touchdowns were in the last five minutes of the contest. Austin Collie had 10 receptions for 131 yards and a score as four Colts receivers finished with 75 yards or more receiving.

The Colts host the Giants and Eli Manning next Sunday Night in the nationally televised game. The Texans travel to Washington to face Donovan McNabb and the Redskins.
