Not surprisingly Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox has decided to bench second baseman Brooks Conrad who struggled mightily in Game 3 of the NLDS by making three errors which led to the San Francisco Giants Game 3 victory.
According to an online Sports Illustrated article Conrad who has made eight errors in his past seven games will be replaced by Omar Infante at second base and another line-up move will see veteran slugger Troy Glaus playing third.
Conrad who as a 30 year-old rookie hit eight homeruns and 33 RBI’s as a rookie this season has made four errors in the past three games. In Game 3 Conrad’s errors included bobbling a ground ball, dropping a fly ball and the most crucial occurred in the ninth inning when a Buster Posey chopper squirted through his legs which lost the game for Atlanta.
Known more for his hitting Conrad has struggled with his bat in this series by registering only one hit while striking out four times in 10 at bats in the NLDS.
