A Carmelo Anthony trade could go down this week, apparently. New Carmelo Anthony trade news is being spread around like wildfire, with the chance that a three-team deal could go down among the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets quite soon.
Negotiations among the three teams are apparently closer than ever, with the possibility that a deal could be completed very soon. As many as 15 players could be included in this deal, including All Star players Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Anthony and Devin Harris.
The early look of the trade has Hamilton, Billups and Anthony ending up in New Jersey, while Harris, rookie Derrick Favors, Anthony Morrow and two first round picks are going to Denver; and, finally, Troy Murphy and Johan Petro are heading to Detroit. There will surely be more players included in the deal to make the salaries match, but their names haven't been released at this point.
This is a huge deal, and one that could possibly make the Nets playoff contenders this season if it goes through soon enough. Will Anthony sign a contract extension with the Nets if the trade does go through? It seems very risky for the Nets if they are trying to convince Anthony to stick around, and Favors has the chance to be very good. Denver needs to make a deal soon, but it's surprising that this is all they are getting back.
So what do you think about this deal? Will Denver actually get better in the long-term? Â Is New Jersey giving up too much for the shot at re-signing Anthony after this season?
