Ed Reed's brother is still missing, and things aren't looking good for Reed and his family in the search for Brian Reed. A search of the Mississippi River for a man believed to be the missing Reed ended Saturday after officials found shoes and a jacket believed to belong to the missing man. Brian Reed went missing after jumping into the Mississippi River in Louisiana Friday morning to elude police. A police search was called off Saturday due to bad weather.
The search was prompted after a man believed to be Reed's brother, pursued by Louisiana authorities, jumped into the river to escape being captured, according to a statement released Friday by St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange.
According to broadcast reports in New Orleans, people identifying themselves as friends and family of the man identified him as Brian Reed. Karen Reed, who identified herself as the mother of Ed and Brian Reed, told a New Orleans television station that Brian Reed has had a history with drugs and alcohol but that he was driving a relative's car.
Ed Reed played with a heavy heart Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Kansas City Chiefs 30-7 in Kansas City. Reed was given the game ball after the game as the team huddled and prayed for Reed's brother safety.
