NFL action continued on Saturday night as the San Francisco 49ers won the 'Battle of the Bay' with a 17-3 victory over the Oakland Raiders in a game played at Candlestick Park.
The Raiders defense gave up over 400 yards for the second straight game as the 49ers rushed for 239 yards and passed for 163 yards on the evening. Rookie Kendall Hunter led the way for San Francisco as he rushed for 105 yards on just nine carries, including a 53 yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter, that increased the 49ers lead to 10-0.
QB Alex Smith wasn't sacked this week and finished the night going 8-12 for 126 yards, but he did throw an interception. Rookie Colin Kaepernick went 6-8 for 52 yards, but he was sacked twice on the evening.
Jason Campbell the starting quarterback for the Raiders was injured in the second quarter in what appears to be a concussion. Campbell was 5-7 for 75 yards before he left the game. Kyle Boller was 6-11 for 56 yards as the team's offense managed just 214 yards on the evening.
The Raiders offense is the strength of the team, but the offense has managed just one touchdown in eight trips inside their opponents 30 yard line. When RB Darren McFadden returns it should benefit the team, but they need to find some chemistry before the NFL regular season starts in just three weeks.
