In a move that has been widely suspected, but no less welcomed, "Go Daddy Girl" Danica Patrick formally announced on Thursday she's committing full-time to racing in the upcoming 2012 NASCAR season.
Coyly avoiding questions, Patrick is light on specifics, choosing not to reveal in what race she'll debut, and skipping over a commitment to February's Daytona 500. She did confirm she'll be racing in GoDaddy's #7 Chevy.
The announcement comes at a time when Danica Patrick is enjoying continued success racing in both the IndyCar Series and the Nationwide series, so it's not clear how she'll split her time, driving a multitude of different cars.
It also means she may be too busy to continue with her sexy GoDaddy spokeswoman ads. That's a job which has brought just as much fame, if not more, than her past racing wins.
She's the first woman ever to win a major IndyCar open-wheel racing event, back in 2008 at Motegi in Japan. The only way to beat herself on both fronts would be if she drove topless at the Indy 500.
Don't count on it, though. Besides the obvious safety issues, it's clear Danica Patrick is concentrating on what really made her famous: being one of the best race car drivers in the world.
Man or woman...
