It was a night that summed the 2011 season perfectly for the Florida Marlins.
Early promise followed by total disappointment
Similar to the team's fast start back in April, the Marlins rushed out to a 2-0 lead only to eventually lose a sloppily played game 7-5 to the New York Mets, mathematically eliminating the team from N.L. East contention.
Earlier in the night, the Palm Beach Post reported that ace RHP Josh Johnson would be returning to the mound the weekend of September 3rd but will not likely be dawning Marlins teal again this season, according to Marlins president of operation Larry Beinfest.
In other Marlins news, start shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who has been struggling with shoulder inflammation, will meet with Marlins physician Dr. Lee Kaplan this weekend to discuss treatment options. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but there is no official word yet on whether Ramirez will return to the Marlins this season.
