The UFC 135 results of Jon Jones vs Rampage Jackson will be posted on this live blog tonight. The MMA fight card with the current champion against the former champion will decide if Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai trumps wrestling and strength.
The new face to the sport is arrogant, but admittedly, Jon "Bones" Jones says that it is what fuels his race to be the greatest champion. Tonight, on the Live Pay Per View event, he gets a chance to showcase his mixed martial arts skills against the former champion, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
According to USA Today, Jones is the heavy favorite. He has youth on his side, but also boasts a distinct mix of spinning kicks, sharp elbows, and a long torso that can create more power on takedown moves.
On the other hand, Jackson is known for his slamming skills. Any chance he has tonight depends on his limited mix of weapons. In short, he's more of a boxer, and is getting up there in age.
During his reign, he was revered for his Mike Tyson-like skills. But that will probably prove useless tonight when the UFC 135 results are in.
According to UFC.com, here's a breakdown of what both fighters are bringing to the octagon:
He's had only 9 MMA total fights, but his record of 13-1-0 is impressive, nonetheless. His strengths are in wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Taekwondo. He stands at 6'4" and weighs in at 205 lbs.
He also brings youth to the table (24-years-old), and this alone may offer an edge against his older opponent.
If the UFC 135 fight results are based on experience, Quinton rules supreme. He's fought in 28 MMA fights and has a record of 32-8-0. Unlike Jones, his strengths are wrestling, power, and his explosive slamming ability.
He gives up three inches in height (6'1") but shares the same weight at 205 lbs for the UFC fight card tonight.
