The Ultimate Fighter goes down tonight (March 9, 2012) and features 32 amazing fighters trying to fight their way onto the show. The great thing about this season is that it will be live on FX. This certainly adds some dynamic to the show, which was becoming stagnant as of late. Tonight's episode will feature 16 fights and will be 2.5 hours long.
The show will feature lightweights from all over the world and will fight to be on Team Faber or Team Cruz. Both of these coaches offer great insight into mma and will do their best to teach these fighters everything it takes to succeed inside the UFC.
Dominick Cruz is the current bantamweight champion of the world and will square off against Faber at the end of the season. Faber has fought Cruz twice and is 1-1 against him. They will look to settle their score this season to see who truly has the superior coaching skills and superior fighting skills. Their trilogy fight is tentatively scheduled for July 7, 2012.
Heading into tonight's episode of the Ultimate Fighter, there has been much talk about mma fighter Dakota Cochrane and his gay porn past. Many are wondering what his reception will be with the other fighters, and what possible confrontations might ensue after they have found out. This certainly doesn't take away from his skills and abilities as a fighter, and he will look to keep the spotlight from him with his performance inside the cage.
Some of the other fighters that will fight to be on the show include Al Iaquinta, Chris Saunders, Daron Cruickshank, Erin Beach, Jordan Rinaldi, Mark Glover, and Jeff Smith just to name a few.
The show should be very entertaining with the new format in place. It will also be interesting to see the confrontation between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber when they first greet each other. They obviously do not like each other and the tension seems to be palpable every time they are in the same room.
It will also be interesting to see who has the superior coaching skills for their fighters. Obviously, Urijah has a track record of being a great coach for Team Alpha Male, and Cruz has been a little off the radar in terms of how good he can coach.
