The clock is ticking as the NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching; and while no big trades have happened yet, teams could get busy real soon as time is running out.
The latest name to surface as a potential point guard option for the LA Lakers is Goran Dragic of the Houston Rockets. Dragic is in his fourth year and though he has played primarily as a backup, his numbers would look good with more playing time.
Most experts feel that any deal with the Rockets would include Pau Gasol, but the Lakers may wish to keep their veteran forward and use one of their first round draft choices as leverage in a deal. Dragic is averaging over 8 points and three assists this season, but he averages just over 20 minutes of playing time per game and those numbers could reach 13 points and seven assists as a regular starter.
While this wouldn't be the blockbuster move most fans would expect, it would help the Lakers with depth in the back-court and give them some young fresh legs down the stretch of the season and into the NBA playoffs and that is a must for this team if they have any chance of winning a title.
