The Ultimate Fighter Live on FX goes down tonight and features a thrilling fight between Justin Lawrence and Cristiano Marcello. Both of these fighters bring different skills to the table, and it will be interesting to see what kind of action ensues.
In the eyes of many fans, these two fighters are the best on the season. They both have fought for a long time and have trained with some of the best in the business. This fight comes to a surprise to many because many thought these two would more than likely be fighting in the finale, but there's nothing wrong with fighting a little early a head of schedule.
Fighter's History
Justin Lawrence is relatively young in the sport, but certainly has the experience to back it up. He has trained out of the infamous Black House alongside Anderson Silva, who is the current middleweight champion of the world. He sports a record of 3-0, and it is said that he has over 100 non-professional fights under his belt.
He has some of the best stand-up on the show, which can be seen with his devastating knockout that ended up sending him on to this season of The Ultimate Fighter.
In the opposing corner, Cristiano Marcello has been doing mixed martial arts for some time now. He is 12-3 in his career, and has trained along Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, and Shogun Rua. He sports some of the best jiu jitsu in the house, and will surely be looking for a submission against Justin Lawrence tonight.
For Justin Lawrence, he needs to keep this fight standing and look to land some devastating punches and kicks to his opponent. He is well-rounded as a fighter, but his best bet in this fight is to stay clear of the ground game of Marcello.
For Marcello, he needs to do the exact opposite. He needs to keep this fight on the ground and look to use his superior grappling skills against Lawrence come fight night. He is a black belt under the Gracies, and he will need to use this against Lawrence, who hasn't spent much time fighting off his back.
