The current Kentucky Derby 2012 odds have contenders Bodemeister and Union Rags as favorites to win the upcoming race at Churchill Downs. Both horses share equal odds in terms of their chances to win the famous thoroughbred race.
According to a report today on Kentucky Derby odds, both Bodemeister and Union Rags have odds of 9/2 to win Saturday's race. Bodemeister was trained by well-known horse trainer Bob Baffert, and born and raised in the state of Arizona. Union Rags is owned by Chadds Ford Stable and trained by Michael Matz. Matz is known for training previous Derby winner Barbaro in 2006. Those two horses are currently the favorites out of a total list of 23 horses, with Hero of Order coming in as least favorite to win at 100/1.
After those two horses, the Derby odds for Saturday have Gemologist as third favorite with 7/1 odds. Dullahan has 8/1 odds to win the race, while two horses, Creative Cause and Alpha, both have 11/1 odds. The Kentucky Derby 2012 date will be on Saturday, May 20th, and should bring plenty of excitement as it has in past years.
This race, part of the illustrious Triple Crown of thoroughbred horse racing, is always a fun and popular event for fans to watch whether live in person, or elsewhere. Hopefully the weather will stay dry and relatively cool to give conditions for these horses to have a competitive race. Past years have seen things get a bit sloppy and that would be unfortunate for such a historic event this year.
