At a Glance
The UFC heads to Vegas this Saturday night (May 26, 2012) and features some great heavyweight match ups. The main-event features a heavyweight title fight between Frank Mir and Junior Dos Santos. Both of these fighters possess heavy hands, which should be great for fans looking for a knockout or submission.
The co-main event features a compelling heavyweight fight between Cain Velasquez and Anotnio "Big Foot" Silva. Both of these fighters have heavy hands as well and some excellent grappling skills. This card is full of other heavyweight fights, and it should be a treat for mixed martial arts fans all over the world.
Predictions
The fight between JDS and Frank Mir is an interesting clash of styles. Mir will look to get this fight to the ground and use his superior submission offense, which can be seen with his bone breaking submissions throughout his UFC tenure. JDS, on te other hand, likes to keep his fights standing and knockout the out in the early minutes of the fights.
The final result will be a knockout win for JDS. He has been dominated as of late, and Frank Mir tends to fade when he is pressured. JDS will come out of the gate hot and land something big to rock Frank, successfully defending his belt for the first time and will still be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
The co-main event is an interesting style clash as well. Velasquez has some of the best cardio and wrestling in the UFC heavyweight division, and he will look to exploit his speed against Antonio Silva. Cain will win via knockout in the second round. He will use his boxing to pressure Silva early just like his training partner Daniel Cormier did to him last year in Strikeforce.
Another compelling fight is a bout between Lavar Johnson and Stefan Struve. Both of these fighters like the standup, but Struve has showed some great submissions off his back. The final result will end with Struve winning via submission in the second round.
Another bout that should be fun for the fans is a heavyweight fight between Roy "Big Country" Nelson vs. Dave Herman. The final result of this bout will end with With Roy Nelson winning in the first round via submission.
A fight between C.B. Dolloway and Jason "Mayhem" Miller takes place at welterweight. Mayhem has been adamant about this being the most important fight of his life. Will this be extra motivation for him to win after his devastating loss to Michael Bisping? It sure will; the final result with be Miller via submission in the third round.
