Philadelphia and Los Angeles are two NBA teams headed in opposite directions. The 76ers have a good nucleus of young talent, and the Lakers are a veteran group looking to add youth.
This off-season could see several big name players change teams, and the latest rumor from Bleacher Report has the two teams making a deal that would benefit both franchises.
Andre Iguodala is an athletic small forward with plenty of good basketball still in his future. A move to the LA Lakers would give the team a much-needed small forward, and in return the 76ers would get Pau Gasol, a veteran that could give Philadelphia a veteran presence in the middle, especially with Spencer Hawes becoming a free agent this summer.
With the LA Lakers likely extending the amnesty clause to Ron Artest this summer, that will give the team some room under the salary cap to add a point guard. Trading Gasol to Philly would give them some youth and athleticism in their front-court and a quality player that will give the team several more years of service.
Not often do big NBA trades actually transpire, but this deal is helpful to both teams and would give them both a good shot at advancing further along in the playoffs than they did this year. Fans of both squads would welcome this deal, and it works under the salary cap, giving it a good chance of happening this summer.
