The NFL salary cap rules have put the Oakland Raiders in a tough spot this off-season, but the team can still add players that could help them in the upcoming football season.
The latest rumor from Vincent Frank from Bleacher Report suggests the team sign tight end Jeremy Shockey, a move that would give quarterback Carson Palmer another weapon and the team a veteran that can help youngsters David Ausberry and Brandon Myers.
Last year Shockey made 37 catches for over 450 yards and four scores, compare that to the 18 receptions of the two youngsters on the roster. This team has a good shot at competing for the AFC West title, but adding more offensive weapons is a must, especially with Phillip Rivers and Peyton Manning running rival NFL teams.
The new front office and ownership for the Oakland Raiders have made some good moves with the limited cap space they have this off-season, and this move is just another that will keep fans excited and the team competitive until the team gets in better financial shape.
