Green bay has one of the top offenses in the NFL, but the Packers lack a veteran running back and head into the upcoming football season with James Starks and Brandon Saine as their primary ball carriers.
The latest rumor has the team adding Cedric Benson in a move that would give the team some leadership in the backfield and a player that produced terrific numbers over the last few seasons with Cincinnati.
Benson rushed for over 1,000 yards again last year and the veteran added six touchdowns for the Bengals, but Cincinnati decided to go in another direction and the veteran back is looking for a new home.
The Oakland Raiders and NY jets are two other options, but Benson got a taste of the playoffs last season and a move to Green Bay would give the back a chance at winning a Super Bowl before his NFL career is finished.
Look for the front office of the Packers to add another back before the start of training camp and Benson would give the team some good insurance and a player that can still produce good numbers.
