Vancouver had a disappointing end to the 2011-12 NHL season as the Canucks were ousted by the LA Kings in the first round. The team had another terrific regular season, but it looks like changes are needed for this franchise to win a Stanley Cup.
Last year the team was called soft after their loss to Boston in the Final and things weren't better after their loss to an eighth seed this year. The latest trade rumor from Carol Schram suggests the team go after Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Nash is a large presence on the ice at 6'4" and nearly 220 pounds, something Vancouver could use on the offensive end of the ice. At just 28 years of age, Nash has plenty of good hockey remaining and his offensive skills would make the Canucks a tough club next season.
Nash has made it clear he wants out of Columbus and it looks like the front office will give him his wish. Moving to a perennial contender would rejuvenate his career and give Vancouver's fans a reason for optimism in the 2012-13 NHL season.
