Michael Beasley was literally a few moves away from being a Laker.
Around the NBA Trade deadline, the Lakers and the Timberwolves were involved in heavy talks that had the Lakers sending Derek Fisher, Luke Walton, and multiple draft picks to the Lakers for Michael Beasley, but the Timberwolves pulled out at the last second. Which is why the Lakers went ahead and traded Fisher to the Rockets, who bought him out, which allowed him to sign with the OKC Thunder.

Now, according to a source, it looks like the Lakers are going to make a move for Michael Beasley once again. The Timberwolves GM David Kahn is interested in moving Beasley and simply building his core around All-Star PF Kevin Love and sensational second-year point guard Ricky Rubio.
It's unclear what the clear would give the Timberwolves in the move, but it's reported to be a sign and trade. The deal would certainly revolve around Metta World Peace, Matt Barnes, or Devin Ebanks along with draft picks and additional cash. The Lakers are hoping Beasley will essentially replace Lamar Odom's role on the team and become the third scorer.
