After another disappointing finish to the NBA season and Pau Gasol's failures in the playoffs, it is becoming clear that the veteran forward has played his last game in a LA Lakers uniform.
While Gasol has given the team good numbers during the regular season, his playoff performance the last two seasons have hurt the team and fans are fed up. The front office needs to add some younger talent this summer, and it all could start with the team moving the Spaniard.
Atlanta has also had trouble with their disgruntled star Josh Smith, and the latest rumor from Bleacher Report has the two teams swapping players.
Smith is younger and much more energetic than Gasol and would give the Lakers their best wing defender in years. Gasol would give the Hawks some much-needed veteran leadership, and a change of scenery could be just what these two players need.
The LA Lakers are also rumored in the running to acquire Lamar Odom from Dallas. These two moves would make this team much more athletic, and that could spell trouble for the other teams in the NBA in the 2012-13 season.
