Detroit is a team in transition as a number of their aging stars are retiring or in the twilight of their careers, but this is a proud NHL franchise with great history and a team that is used to winning and the front office for the Red Wings will need to make some roster moves to get this team back into a Stanley Cup Final.
Detroit lacks a top scoring winger, a player that strikes fear into opposing defenders and this off-season adding this type of player is a priority. The latest rumor from Bleacher Report suggests the team looks into adding Alexander Semin from Washington.
The Russian would give Detroit one of the top shooting wingers in the league and a player with plenty of good years still ahead. Teaming Semin with Pavel Datsyuk would give the Red Wings a formidable front-line and the offense they need to get back as a true contender in the league.
Another option is Zach Parise from New Jersey as he is unlikely to return to the Devils, but Semin is the best long-term answer for Detroit as they prepare for the NHL off-season and making moves to return this team to glory.
