The LA Lakers are in dire need of help in the back-court and with the team having little money under the salary cap, the hope is the front office can find some help through the upcoming NBA Draft.
The front office has a tough job ahead as the team owns the last pick, number 60 overall and though this year's draft class is deep, finding a player that can help a championship team this late will require some good research and a little luck.
The latest mock has the LA Lakers taking Scott Machado from Iona with their only pick. Machado is a four-year player from Iona with decent size at 6'2" and 205 pounds, but his lack of quickness could hurt his chances against the better point guards in the league. The youngster is a good floor leader and dishes the ball extremely well, making him an interesting prospect for a team that needs a floor general.
Another option for the LA Lakers is Josep Franch of Spain. The young point guard is 6'4" and can handle the rock, but his overall speed and quickness is below average. Franch's outside shot is decent and he has a high basketball IQ, but the youngster is a project and he wouldn't give the team much help in the 2012-13 NBA season.
