With the start of NFL training camps closing in, fantasy football owners are gearing up for the 2012 season. Most owners know the top players in the game, but to win a title, owners need depth and a little luck with injuries.
Here is a look at the quarterbacks for the upcoming football season and what players are flying under the radar.
Matt Ryan is a terrific young quarterback, but the Atlanta Falcons signal caller has yet to break through as a star in the fantasy football world. The team is looking to pass more this season and with some good weapons at his disposal, Ryan is inline for a career year and that helps owners who grab this youngster in the middle rounds.
Cam Newton proved that rookie quarterbacks can put up good numbers and this year Washington is hoping Robert Griffin can do likewise. The Redskins have announced the rookie will start the year as the team's leader and with a good set of receivers, Griffin could have a big impact in fantasy football this year.
Another young NFL quarterback to keep an eye on is Josh Freeman from Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have a good group of young receivers, but the team added Vincent Jackson from San Diego this off-season and that deep threat could create some big numbers for Freeman this season.
With the NFL becoming a passing league, fantasy football owners have adjusted away from running backs and into QBs and receivers as their top choices. These youngsters are good options as a second signal caller and should give owners some good point totals when inserted into their starting lineups.
