Anthony Davis, the No. 1 pick of the 2012 NBA Draft, could now miss the 2012 London Olympics after suffering an injury in practice. The newest member of the New Orleans Hornets sprained his left ankle Sunday (July 1) while working out with the team.
While this injury doesn't seem like one that would cost Davis significant time away from the basketball court, he may not get healthy in time to take the court for Team USA. That's a big blow to the team, especially because he could have provided a lot of energy as the youngest member of the team.

The early prognosis is that Davis could miss up to two weeks due to the ankle sprain, meaning he would not have enough time to get healthy and report to camp for Team USA by Friday (July 6). This might just open the door for someone like Blake Griffin to make the team in his place though, so it's not like Team USA is going to come up short on bodies.
This is definitely scary news for Hornets fans, but if Davis rests his ankle properly, it is an injury that he can likely get past before the fall camps open for the NBA.
Do you think that Anthony Davis will definitely become the NBA Rookie of the Year? Will Blake Griffin serve a better purpose for Team USA than Davis could have?
