The NBA trade rumors about Joe Johnson have now come true. The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to trade Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a multiplayer deal. It appears as though the Nets are making a bold move in order to keep Deron Williams in town, but it may also hamper their ability to acquire Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic.
ESPN is reporting that Atlanta acquired Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Williams, DeShawn Stevenson (in a sign-and-trade) and a future first round draft pick that came from the Houston Rockets. That's a lot of players, but most of them are in their final contract years, showing that Atlanta is trying to shed salaries for next year.

Johnson was an All-Star for the Hawks, averaging 18.8 points last season for them. He is a good player to have on offense, but it's hard to project that he would become the main reason for Williams to stay with Brooklyn. This improves their offense without having to give up too many assets though, especially because they didn't have to give up MarShon Brooks as a part of this trade. That might mean there is life in a Howard trade still.
Do you think that the Brooklyn Nets made the right move by trading for Joe Johnson? Will the NBA trade rumors about Dwight Howard going to the Nets come true?
