New Jose Calderon NBA trade rumors link him to the Phoenix Suns as a possible destination. As the Toronto Raptors draw closer to signing Steve Nash as a free agent, it makes their current point guard (Calderon) available for a trade like this. It's obvious that Phoenix has the cap space which would make it easy for the team to absorb the contract of Calderon.
It could become interesting to see what the Suns are willing to give up, especially after low-balling Nash in their recent contract negotiations. Would the team really offer up significant talent to acquire a new point guard in Calderon?

This won't be the end of NBA trade rumors involving Calderon either, as teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers are in need of a veteran point guard. Maybe Toronto should also query the New York Knicks, who would definitely like to add someone like Calderon to come off the bench. If Toronto is close to signing Nash, then it also seems possible the team wouldn't ask for much to send out Calderon.
The dominos may not start to fall on a Calderon trade until Nash signs with a new team, but expect it to happen very soon after that. Do you think that the Phoenix Suns would be a good fit for Jose Calderon? Are the Toronto Raptors making a mistake if they trade Calderon for spare parts?
