Greg Oden's NBA career was considered over, but the former top pick in the league has plans to return this season and is able to sign with any team in the league this summer.
The 24-year-old center has played just 82 games in his five-year career as injuries have limited his time on the court, but when he was healthy, he gave Portland the dominate big man they were looking for and his return could do the same for the Phoenix Suns.
The latest rumor from Bleacher Report suggests that Phoenix sign the seven-footer and use him off the bench to limit his playing time and stress on his fragile legs. Oden averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in his limited time with the Blazers, and with Phoenix already having a true center in Marcin Gortat, the youngster is more of a low-cost insurance policy.
Grant Hill's career was saved by the medical staff with the Suns and Oden would come cheap as no NBA team will offer much for a player that has missed so much action. The Suns need some good publicity and this is one signing that could have a big impact on the franchise with minimal risk.
