The latest NBA trade rumors for 2012 are no surprise as they revolve around Dwight Howard heading to either the LA Lakers or Brooklyn Nets. A legendary Lakers star is saying he wants Dwight Howard to leave the Orlando Magic for his squad. While Magic isn't coaching, and is providing analysis on TV, it seems he's campaigning on Twitter. However, there are speculations of a 3-team deal which would involve the Nets as well.
There's been recent NBA trade news with Orlando, but it involved sending away Ryan Anderson to New Orleans for a second-year center. Now the news will continue to focus on D-Howard, who according to Yahoo! Sports, Magic Johnson recently tweeted about, saying:
"@DwightHoward would be the final piece to make the @Lakers a championship team for a long time."
This is true indeed, but don't count out those Brooklyn Nets quite yet. While it appeared the team was out of the mix, a recent Facebook post from NBA Talk may indicate some new trade rumors are potential deals waiting to happen. NBA Talk posted on Sunday night:
"Brooklyn Nets are making progress in getting Dwight Howard. They have found the 3rd team they needed to make the deal and that team is the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The trade would send a re-signed Brook Lopez and multiple future first round picks to Orlando, while Cleveland gets Kris Humphries and finally, Brooklyn gets Dwight Howard."
It seems like a crazy deal, although Orlando would have the ability to do some rebuilding depending on what sort of draft pick positions they get in future years. Orlando would also get a talented star in Brook Lopez. However, Cleveland is only getting Kris Humphries, which some may argue isn't much.
The takeaways from these latest NBA trade rumors are that Magic Johnson has spoken, and a darkhorse deal is being speculated. It would seem at this point that Howard's best choice would be the Lakers in terms of winning a championship, with teams like the Clippers and Nets neck-and-neck in terms of championship status.
Which team do you think would have the best shot at a championship if they acquire Dwight Howard, the Nets, Lakers, or Clippers, or does Howard make all three immediate contenders?
