The LA Lakers made a big move when they made a trade for Steve Nash this past week, but the team is still lacking with depth, especially in the back-court. Making a trade is likely their best move in acquiring the players they need to win another NBA title.
The latest trade rumor from Bleacher Report has the LA Lakers trading veteran forward Pau Gasol to Toronto for point guard Jose Calderon and forward Andrea Bargnani. Calderon has become expandable after the recent acquisition of Kyle Lowery, but the veteran would give the Lakers a terrific player to come off the bench and help the second unit in leadership and scoring.
Bargnani is a good talent, but he never has rebounded as expected and dealing him for Gasol would give the Raptors a solid all-around player and a veteran that could help lead the young front-court in Toronto.
Gasol is one of the top players in the NBA that has been rumored on the move for the last year, but this is one deal that could help both teams and it's something that works financially for both teams. While trades like this are seldom, it's not a stretch to see these two teams work together and make a deal like this happen before the start of the upcoming season.
