The TNA Destination X 2012 results are now official as the latest pro wrestling Pay-Per-View has just concluded. Many fans are wondering if the current World Heavyweight Champion will continue his record reign. So who won that Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode championship bout?
With Destination X live online and Pay-Per-View, fans were treated to a classic main event, with the former X Division champion challenging the current 256-day World Heavyweight Champion. It was Aries vs. Roode in an entertaining match with the title up for grabs. Fans will remember that Aries had to relinquish his other title in order to get tonight's opportunity, due to an arrangement he made with Hulk Hogan.
With that in mind, Roode once again pulled out all the stops to try to defend his title during tonight's results. At one point he grabbed his title belt to use as a weapon, but the referee pulled it away. That distraction with the ref turned away, allowed Roode to hit a low blow on Aries. However, Aries kicked out of a pinfall attempt. Later in the match, Roode managed to shove Aries into the referee, causing the ref to be knocked out. Roode then was able to use his title belt as a weapon and clocked Aries for a pinfall.
However, that pinfall wasn't good enough, as Aries kicked out at two. He blocked and rolled through several attempted moves by Roode before kicking him in the face, and then hitting a brainbuster to secure the win. With that, fans have seen an end to the reign of Robert Roode, the longest reigning champion in the history of TNA Wrestling, while a new star is born.
Other winners on the night included Samoa Joe locking a submission hold on Kurt Angle which made him pass out. AJ Styles outlasted Daniels in a "Last Man Standing" match despite interference from Kazarian late in the match. The final spot of that one saw Styles hit the "Styles Clash" to take Daniels through a table.
The X Division tournament yielded a final four contenders to fight for the vacated title. It was Mason Andrews, Zema Ion, Kenny King, and Sonjay Dutt who advanced to the match. In the end, it was Dutt and Ion up top fighting over the belt, but Ion's hairspray in Dutt's face caused him to fall. That makes Ion the new X Division champion since he snatched the belt.
Overall fans have to be pleased with the TNA Destination X 2012 results, unless of course there are major Robert Roode fans out there. Still, he's been a worthy champion and has really solidified his spot in TNA wrestling with a 256 day reign. It's going to be interesting to see who the next TNA wrestler to even come close to that reign will be!
