The Boston Celtics have lost veteran shooting guard Ray Allen to Miami this off-season, but the team is looking to fill that void in the latest NBA trade rumor.
Marc Stein has reported that the Celtics are showing interest in free agent Courtney Lee of Houston, but because of salary cap restrictions, this deal would need to happen through a sign and trade deal. Boston has a good number of upcoming draft picks from other teams and could use those picks to add the young shooting guard this summer.
Lee averaged over 11 points and nearly three rebounds per game last season, but his strongest asset is his three-point shooting ability. Last season the 26-year-old hit over 40% from long-range and he has a career percentage of 38.6, something Boston needs with the loss of Allen.
The Celtics made a strong run this past NBA season as the team made the Eastern Conference Finals, but adding some youth this off-season is a priority and making this deal for Lee would help with depth and scoring heading into the 2012-13 season.
