NBA trade rumors from the Portland Trail Blazers have the team possibly pursuing a trade with either the Atlanta Hawks or the Houston Rockets in the next few days. Both of those teams are looking to shed some salary as well as a big man on the roster, potentially making a trade between Portland and one of the two franchises very easy.
According to Jason Quick, Zaza Pachulia is available from Atlanta and Patrick Patterson is available from Houston. Pachulia is due $5 million next year and Patterson is due $2 million, making both players extremely affordable for Portland.
The Trail Blazers are well under the salary cap still, so making a trade for one of these two players wouldn't hurt the bottom line at all. The issue becomes what the team would be willing to give up in an exchange and whether any of their assets would be acceptable to either Atlanta or Houston.
Pachulia actually seems like a really good fit in Portland, especially because he would only have to play around 25 minutes a night. The team just selected Meyers Leonard in the 2012 NBA Draft and he is more than capable of picking up the slack off the bench. If a veteran like Pachulia could hold down the starter's minutes at center and allow Leonard to develop slowly, the Blazers might come away with a steal in a trade like this.
Do you think that either of these Portland Trail Blazers trade rumors makes sense for the team right now? Do you agree that Zaza Pachulia would fit nicely next to LaMarcus Aldridge on the starting lineup? Are there other NBA trade rumors the Blazers should explore this offseason?
