UFC 149 is set to take place today and features a bantamweight interim title fight between Urijah Faber and Renan Barao. Both of these fighters have looked impressive as of late, and it will be interesting to see which style prevails come fight night.
For Urijah Faber, he is looking to capture his first championship belt since coming into the UFC. He has notable wins over the likes of Eddie Wineland, Dominick Cruz, and Brian Bowles. He has an exciting style that couples superior grappling with unorthodox striking. His cardio is also top notch, and this could be a huge factor for a five-round fight, which is exactly what this fight will be.
For Renan Barao, he is also looking to bring a championship home back to Brazil, and Faber will be his stiffest test to date. Barao has notable wins over Scott Jorgensen and Brad Pickett, and also has an incredible winning streak going for him. His 28 fight win streak is certainly unheard of at this stage in MMA, and it will be interesting to see if he can maintain it.
Also on the card for UFC 149 is a middleweight fight between Hector Lombard and Tim Boestch. Both of these fighters will be looking for the knockout come fight night, and also a chance to grab the number one contender spot in the division.
Hector Lombard has been winning in impressive fashion under the Bellator banner, and it will be interesting to see if he has the skills to hang with the caliber of fighters that are in the UFC. Tim Boestch is looking to finally challenge for a title in the UFC, and he certainly has the size and wrestling abilities to compete with any man in the 185 lb division.
Other fighters on the card include Chiek Kongo, Brian Ebersole, Nick Ring, and Court McGee. All of the aforementioned fighters possess exciting skills, which should make for an entertaining night for the UFC fans.
