Boston Red Sox trade rumors include the team pulling off a deal with the Cleveland Indians. The trade is reported to have just taken place, with the Red Sox making another small move to try to position themselves for a run at the postseason.
According to Paul Rados of Yahoo Sports, the Red Sox have sent Brent Lillibridge to the Indians in exchange for Jose De La Torre. Lillibridge came to Boston as part of the Kevin Youkilis trade with the Chicago White Sox, bringing a quick end to his time as a member of the Red Sox.
It looks like Lillibridge will add outfield depth for the Indians as the team tries to make a run at the American League Central. For the Red Sox, De La Torre is another minor league pitcher that they can send down to the farm. Making this trade opens a spot on the 40-man roster for the team to make another deal, possibly with the Miami Marlins in the next few days.
What do you think of the latest Boston Red Sox trade rumors? Will this trade make much of an impact in the final few months of the MLB regular season? Does this simply set the stage for a bigger trade for Boston?
