New MLB trade rumors have the Milwaukee Brewers confirming that a Zack Greinke trade will take place soon. This may not surprise many baseball fans out there, but the general manager of the Brewers (Doug Melvin) has confirmed that the team is out of contention and ready to move their ace starting pitcher. This news just came out on Thursday night (July 27), raising the possibility of a trade coming together very quickly.
It seems that losing Prince Fielder has had a bigger impact on the Brewers than they originally envisioned. The team is now nine games back in the National League Central, finding it very hard to keep up with the division-leading Cincinnati Reds, let alone the St. Luis Cardinals in the wild card race.
Greinke fell just short of gaining a spot on the NL All-Star team this year, but his numbers are good enough to make the starting rotation of any team out there. He has posted a 9-3 record to go along with a 3.44 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 122 strikeouts so far this season. What he could do down the stretch is why he will become a very hot commodity on the open market.
The teams most interested in trading for Greinke include the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels, Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox, but other teams could pop up now that Milwaukee has officially confirmed that he is available. Now it is time for those franchises to start putting together serious offers if they want to bring in an ace like Greinke.
What do you think of these new MLB trade rumors about Zack Greinke? Do you think that the Milwaukee Brewers can get back a great package of players from a team like the Atlanta Braves or Texas Rangers?
