The LA Dodgers have been one of the best stories in the MLB this season as the franchise has rebounded from years of bad ownership and returned to battle for a spot in this year's post-season.
The team has struggled on offense at times this year, especially when their top two hitters were injured, and the front office is looking to correct that problem before next week's trade deadline.
Fox Sports is reporting that Philadelphia has put outfielder Hunter Pence on the trading block, and the LA Dodgers are the top team to acquire the power hitting left-fielder.
Pence is under contract through next season, so making the deal for the 28-year-old is more than a short-term solution. The former second-round draft pick is hitting .267 this year with the Phillies with 17 homers and 59 RBI and would give the LA Dodgers a big boost over Jerry Hairston and Bobby Abreu in left.
With the MLB trade deadline just days away, look for teams like the LA Dodgers to make the necessary moves to stay in contention over the second half of the season and possibly contend for a World Series title.
