New San Francisco Giants trade rumors have the team agreeing to a trade with the Colorado Rockies. The deal reportedly brings shortstop Marco Scutaro to the Giants in exchange for minor league infielder Charlie Culberson. It seems like an even trade, with the Giants hoping Scutaro can give them a burst in the short-term.
So far this year, Scutaro had posted a .271 batting average with 4 home runs and 30 RBIs. He is an upgrade on offense for the Giants, a team that could certainly use more power as well. This might not be the only trade that the Giants make to improve their offense, though, as they could still really use a corner outfielder with power.
As for Culberson, he should work out nicely for the Rockies if they have patience. He has showed great signs of power at the Triple-A level this season, hitting 10 home runs and posting 53 RBIs so far. He even spent six games up with the Giants, but only hit .136 in that short stint.
The Giants are trying hard to hold off the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West standings. The Giants are up by just three games, posting a 55-43 record so far.
Do you think that these latest San Francisco Giants trade rumors bode well for the team this season? Can Marco Scutaro provide a nice bump in the offensive output for the team?
