Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps' rivalry has been one of the biggest stories of the Olympics, so of course the human fish deserve their own "Call Me Maybe" parody entitled "Call Me Lochte."
So far Lochte has won gold in the 400-IM, in which Phelps finished a disappointing fourth. Phelps came back to show everyone that he's still a tough competitor in the 400-meter freestyle relay, but Lochte blew the American team's lead in the final leg. So as of right now, Michael probably isn't Lochte's biggest fan.
However, NOC's parody song "Call Me Lochte" starts out being all about Lochte resenting Michael and his fame with lines like this:
"I'm in a personal hell/ I kind of hate Michael Phelps/I wish he'd drown in a well/ That dude is in my way."
There's a reference to Michael Phelps's bong incident, but sadly NOC was too late to create a line about Ryan Lochte's star-spangled grill. Gals will also be disappointed to see that the singer of "Call Me Lochte" looks nothing like Ryan - he definitely doesn't look like the type of guy who would shave his chest and take his shirt off at the pool. However, they'll be happy to know that Ryan doesn't completely despise Michael - in the song he cares enough to tell his teammate this:
"You were my idol/Now you're just a rival/Don't get suicidal/Where you think you're swimming, Mikey?"
Poor Michael with his strange pecs, shaved armpits, and Subway endorsement deal.
The entire USA Olympic swim team recently created their own music video set to Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," and there's a lot more eye candy (and Speedos) in that one. Michael and Ryan do make quick appearances in it.
So which video do you prefer, and are you Team Phelps or Team Lochte?
