Huge San Francisco Giants trade rumors have the team pulling off a Hunter Pence trade with the Philadelphia Phillies. According to CBS Sports, the deal is done and Pence is indeed heading to San Francisco.
The news of this deal has just come out and it is a huge move for the Giants. Acquiring a good right-handed power hitter is going to really help out the offense in San Francisco and make life easier for their core starting pitchers.
So far this year, Pence has a .271 batting average, 17 home runs and 59 RBIs. Those are really good numbers and he could even improve upon that once he gets to the Giants. For Pence, there is a lot of baseball left in his future, so the Giants could receive benefits from this trade for a number of years to come.
In exchange for Pence, minor league catcher and first baseman Tommy Joseph heads back to the Phillies as well as outfielder Nate Schierholtz to fill that roster slot. There is also a pitcher that will be named later, making this a three-for-one deal in favor of Philadelphia.
What do you think about these San Francisco Giants trade rumors? Is a Hunter Pence trade exactly what the team needed to make a serious run at the postseason? Did the Philadelphia Phillies trade bring back enough in talent for that organization?
