Shane Doan is one of the few remaining NHL free agents that could make a solid impact on a new franchise, but until the ownership situation in Phoenix is worked out, it looks like the veteran heading elsewhere is just speculation.
One team that could make a big play for the 35-year-old is Pittsburgh as the Penguins have plenty of salary cap space and could use an insurance policy on offense with the teams recent injury situations.
Doan is looking at playing four more years in the league and that could become a sticking point, but the veteran winger is still very productive and the team that jumps first at his demands could become his new home.
The veteran has nine straight NHL seasons with at least 50 points and though he has played his entire career with Phoenix, changes happen and moving to a team like Pittsburgh that can challenge for a Stanley Cup could be the move he needs to light that fire and of course the money from a new contract won't hurt either.
