Usain Bolt has broken the Olympic Record for the 100m sprint in London this morning. After what appeared to be a slightly slow start, Bolt rallied mid race and finished in first place with a time of 9.63 seconds. It was a one two for the Jamaicans with Yohan Blake taking silver, and the young man Justin Gatlin taking bronze for the USA in the Olympics 100m final. Bolt received a standing ovation from the sold out crowd in London's west end. Post race there was a little controversy, as it was reported that a member of the crowd had thrown a beer bottle on the track next to Usain Bolt just prior to the race beginning.
It is a record-breaking day at the Olympics, and even the most passionate fans of Usain Bolt couldn't have predicted the flying Jamaican winning the sprint in such a quick time. Usain Bolt could well now be referred to as the greatest Olympian of all time and he will go down in history as one of the greatest sportsmen to have ever lived. Jamaica can be proud tonight.
What did you think of the race? Is Usain Bolt the greatest of all time?
