2012 Olympics results have come in from the basketball court today as Team USA has advanced into the semifinals. It was a really one-sided game between the United States and Canada in the quarterfinals, as the U.S. women really played some tough defense to advance.
The 91-48 drubbing was a huge statement about how every other team in the tournament is going to have a hard time scoring against these women. The United States forced 26 turnovers, taking full advantage of those fast break opportunities to score quite a few easy baskets.
Diana Taurasi was the leader in this game, scoring 15 points to lead the way. Candace Parker added another 12 points, proving that once again the balance-scoring approach of Team USA is probably going to lead to another Gold Medal Game this year.
These 2012 Olympics results are probably not that surprising to fans that have been watching this team very closely. This might be one of the best teams that women's basketball has ever had come out of the United States and they haven't found much of a challenge in any of the games in London yet.
Are you getting excited about how well the U.S. women are playing at the London Olympics? Do you think that there is any question about whether this team will take care of the semifinal game very easily and play for gold again?
