With the start of the NFL pre-season beginning this week, fantasy football owners will begin their research and study the stars and rookies in hopes of finding that key sleeper that could lead their team to a title.
Here is a look at the running backs that could surprise and have a big year and make owners look like a genius later in the season.
Trent Richardson enters the league as the top rookie running back and while that doesn't always lead to big stats, the Cleveland Browns will use the youngster in many ways on offense and he will likely play a big role in both the running and passing game for the Browns this season.
Steven Jackson has been a star player for the lowly St Louis Rams, but the veteran running back could have a huge season with the Rams finally adding some decent receivers to their roster. Jackson is a hard-nosed runner and with some good production from Sam Bradford, this team should score more often this year and that is good news for fantasy football owners that grab Jackson in the later rounds of their draft.
Another good option in the later rounds is Benjarvus Green-Ellis of the Cincinnati Bengals. The former New England patriots running back is taking over the starting duties with the Bengals and should take over where Cedric Benson left off and that's another 1,000 rushing season and a few scores on the ground.
The NFL pre-season will also see a number of big name players go down with injuries and owners that pay attention will get a crack at some good talent that the can use to beat their friends and colleagues this season.
